understanding

Knowledge is connected to having an accurate understanding of all around us as God’s Creation. Wisdom is the acquired skill by the Holy Spirit in how to apply that knowledge accurately in the preciseness of faith that results in Christ’s Nature being formed in us.

Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” And “…all those who practice it have a good understanding” – Psalm 111:10.

Understanding is transliterated as sunesis, speaks of “the putting together of all the pieces.”

So, wisdom is that which is derived by reverentially getting to know the Lord, which enables us by His Spirit to objectively have understanding into our surroundings and in how to best apply Truth in any given situation.

Wisdom includes spiritual discernment of an awareness of God’s Presence being present at all times. For the fools, the ungodly, are non-thinkers with God and consider His instruction as nothing. But, reverence for God is the root of all wisdom and bears branches of His righteousness, which extends its fruit through His people that others may have life.

This Proverb is not meant to be an insult, but a warning. If someone continually resists wisdom over a long period of time, they just may find that the day comes when suddenly they are broken and beyond healing (Prov. 29:1).

Yet, that healing is just one turn away, a turning towards God with a reverence for His Presence in the midst of all things. Friends, He sent his Word to heal us and deliver us from all of our destruction (Psa. 107:20). Now, let’s receive and grow in our healing.
