The Call of Wisdom in Proverbs points us to the Call found in the Gospel (1 Corinthians 1).

We cannot merely hear this particular Call to Wisdom with our outer ears. It takes the Holy Spirit to teach our inner ear. It is the Holy Spirit who guides us into all Truth, who takes the hearing aid of faith with Jesus Christ as its object, who takes this faith which came from hearing the Word of God, to make known to us the Call of Wisdom.

This Call to Wisdom can be heard in the noisy, public square by anyone who has an ear to hear. Her tone carries with it a message of urgency for God’s people to heed her call. 

May this Call of Wisdom pierce the noise of this generation for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May the entrance of His Word give Light and understanding to the simple-minded. And may the scoffers who delighted in themselves be found delighting in the Lord, that all that is done, be done for the Father’s glory and by His great and enduring mercy towards us all.
