Our Thoughts

It has been reported that we have 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts every day. Others report we have as many as 100,000. Of those thoughts, some are given a place for reflection and have a direct impact upon our actions and lives overall.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 – For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

King Solomon understood that our thoughts will ultimately influence the direction of our life. He understood, including through personal experience, that it wasn’t his circumstance or situation that led him to fall. It was where he allowed his thoughts to lead him. He grew in understanding that the thoughts to which he gave a place of reflection had the power to influence his words, actions, and overall conduct.

How important is the counsel in Proverbs 4:23: “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”

Through the Spirit and Truth, may we learn of the divine power delegated to us to destroy strongholds, arguments, and the lofty opinions, raised against the knowledge of God, and to take every thought captive to obey Christ.

There we discover that the powerful working of God’s Word is the very thing that guards our hearts and allows for springs of life to flow in and through our own lives. May it flow all the more in the days ahead.
