Shelter 400x400

Isaiah 53:4 – “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.”

“He has BORNE our GRIEFS” speaks of physical pain, sickness, or the pain of mental anguish, all of which can be attributed to my own wrong decisions or to the choices of others. On the other hand, the pain could be directly caused by no one else at all.

Whatever the case, the pain that we bear in this life due to this sinful world, the Lord bore. The negative effects of that which caused the pain, He, in His Great Mercy, carried it away in the forgiveness that was provided by the sacrificial shed blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.

He bore our pain by lifting it up on the Cross and carrying away any condemnation that was attached to it. The word carried  is the same word used for a porter, one who carries a heavy load that does not belong him, but bears its weight on the behalf of another.

Jesus took upon Himself the deep, inner pain, sorrow, and burden that come from sin, and He bore the weight of it all that we could be free of it now and forever.

Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing are all available today. However, our complete healing will be realized when we are adorned with a glorified body.

May we find our shelter in His heart towards us as revealed in the Truth of His Living Word.
